Hi Susan-

Good luck with the new blog! I like the look. Red and black is my favorite color scheme. I have an oil painting I did with the name Red & Black, and I was going to include it in my reply, but I don’t see any way to include a picture. Anyways, happy blogging.

I would love a sample of Hemp Hearts. Sounds like wonder food.

Susan for you. As we age vitamin D becomes increasingly important as one of the last remaining steroid hormones to watch the store. Our estrogen and testosterone are going away. Our growth hormone (not a steroid) is going away. The only hormone remaining to protect our bones, teeth, muscles and tendons is vitamin D and our good friend exercise. We need vitamin D to maintain bone and muscle mass as we age and the combination of exercise and vitamin D are our key allies.
The other piece of the puzzle is our diet. We need to get enough protein so as not to borrow from our bones as we age. We also need to get enough other nutrients (vitamins, minerals and antioxidants) from vegetable matter so as not to borrow from our bones and muscles. If we do that we will all look and feel like Jack LaLanne into our 90s.

Well put, James…thanks so much for your comment.
Do you know any other sources of Vit D so that we can maintain our body bone and muscle mass?
Yes, let’s look like Jack LaLanne…I love him!
